How to make yourself feel happy

How to make yourself feel happy

Living a consistently happy life is just not simple but is about making little steps of progress. Making yourself feel happy often means continually finding a feeling of joy, and a sense that your life is meaningful during all kinds of problematic situations. Nobody and I mean nobody, is happy all the time. Being brutally honest, some individuals are just more fortunate than others when it comes to emotions and feeling and that is ok. We are allowed to accept our feelings are not always going to be positive and only we can make them better. A sense of happiness is good for your health, so what can we do to feel happy? Here are the best 5 ways to retrain the brain to make yourself feel happy.

Determine who you are

Your core values determine how you think about yourself, your life, and the world around you. These beliefs guide your decision-making so, really take the time to sit down and reflect upon yourself. They are going to be the things that are fundamental to how you look at life. For example, “commitment to trying my best” could be a value, or “dedication to family” or “commitment to taking a positive outlook.” Whatever your values are, research suggests that when you are not living your life and making choices that are in line with your values, you’re likely to feel unhappy and dissatisfied.

Focus on the little things.

Take some ‘you’ time.

The thought of meditating can be daunting (quieting your mental voice is NO easy challenge!), there are a plethora of health benefits associated with it. Research shows that eight weeks of daily meditation can lead to greater happiness. Looking to get started but don’t know how? Strip it all back and begin with hypnosis or listening to a self-help audio book. Clearing the negative voice first is powerful and allows you to really take in positive mind set needed to meditate, its exactly what I did. I downloaded and listened to “How to Be Bawse: A Guide to Conquering life” by Lilly Singh. This insightful book is engaging, funny and very impactful upon your mindset. Best part of all is I now feel like I have a way of challenging myself in a productive way and not putting myself down, highlighly recommend that you give it a try!

Spread joy.

Much like a case of the yawns, happiness really is contagious. A study found that happiness has a profound effect on groups of people. When one person’s happy, it spreads like wild fire across an entire social network over the long term. Who wouldn’t want to be the person with the most awesome way to impact their people, right

Look for the positive in all your experiences.

The old saying that you find what you are looking for is true. There is no harm in this becoming a habit, make it a hobby to actively seek out the positive’s in any experience. It’s not only good for your overall happiness, it’s good for your physical health, and boosts your immune system.
