International Women’s Day 2018 #pressforprogress

International Women’s Day is held on 8th March. It is a day for celebrating the achievements of women globally. International Women’s Day is over a century old and I for one am a HUGE supporter!

Collectively we can all play a part

Collective action and shared responsibility for driving gender parity is what makes International Women’s Day successful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist once explained “The story of women’s struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organisation but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.”

The Beginning

Started by the Suffragettes in the early 1900’s, the first International Women’s Day was celebrated in 1911. International Women’s Day belongs to all communities everywhere – governments, companies, charities, educational institutions, networks, associations, the media and more. Whether through a global conference, community gathering, classroom lesson or dinner table conversation – everyone can play a purposeful part in pressing for gender parity.

So make International Women’s Day YOUR day and do what you can to truly make a positive difference for women. Press for Progress!

I Support Women

I am a firm believer that women can achieve anything! As women within this century we are blessed to have the brunt of the equality fight done for us. That does not mean we get to roll over and enjoy the benefits given to us by the millions who suffered on our behalf. Now more than ever, we need to stand up and take responsibility. Equality is widly seen as achieved but we know different. How do you plan to support?

Women Rule!

If I could take a trip back in time to thank each person who has paved the way for women I would but this year I am thanking the Women, Men and organisations bring the cause to the forefront today.

These have inspired, encouraged and enlightened the world around them. They provide education, humour, humility and a service to all women.

Fleur is humble, her content is relatable and the ever-evolving subject matters keep women in the forefront of today’s world.

Women for Women international

This organisation believes that women build strong nations. Since 1993, Women for Women International has helped more than 462,000 marginalized women in countries affected by war and conflict. They provide women in 8 countries with support, tools, and access to life-changing skills to move from crisis and poverty to stability and economic self-sufficiency. Women increase their ability to earn an income with new skills that are in-demand. They learn about their legal rights, and they become knowledgeable about health and nutrition. The result: stronger women, stronger families, and stronger communities. This ripple effect is profound.
